Sappi, in partnership with Standard Bank, is offering a one-year Sales Internship in Ngodwana, Mpumalanga. This unique program is designed to empower local entrepreneurs by helping them establish micro-businesses in the Elands Valley, selling vegetables, fish, and food products. Successful candidates will receive an ice-cream tricycle, a PocketBiz card payment device, start-up capital, and a monthly stipend. Products will be supplied at wholesale prices from the Ngodwana Farm Stall, and participants will also benefit from retail sales and cash flow management training. The initiative aims to strengthen food security and support community development while providing hands-on entrepreneurial experience.

Responsibilities

• Sell local farm produce in your own community after buying it at wholesale price from the Ngodwana Farm Stall
• Manage the cash flow for your business
• Attend training as arranged by Sappi and Standard Bank
• Provide reports on how much you managed to sell and what customers in your community need

Qualifications

• Must be a local community member in the areas directly surrounding Ngodwana Mill
• Cannot be in school
• Preferably already have some experience in informal trading, preferably running a small business
• Have good knowledge of local product and price needs
• Be able to ride a bike
• Have some knowledge of managing cashflow
